A group purchase allows you to train multiple employees, track their progress, and access all of their certificates.
What is a voucher?
A voucher is a code that gives an employee access to a food safety course that was pre-purchased by an employer. Each voucher code is valid for one specific course.
How do employees redeem their vouchers?
There are two ways to redeem a voucher:
  • Click the link in the email sent by the employer regarding their voucher

Both of these options will add the pre-purchased course to their cart. As they continue through the checkout process, they will need to create their own free account.
What Is Remote Proctoring?

Proctors supervise exams to prevent cheating and protect exam information. Remote proctors use webcams and screensharing technology to monitor exams over the internet. You are expected to follow your proctor’s instructions throughout the entire exam. Failure to do so could result in the termination of your exam session and forfeiture of your exam and proctoring fees.

If you need special accommodation during your exam, please send an accommodation application to support@statefoodsafety.com.

Where Can I Take My Exam?

Your testing environment must have:

  • Closed doors
  • Good lighting
  • A clean surface for your computer to sit on (not your lap or the surface where you are sitting)

You are expected to keep your entire head and torso in view of the webcam during the entire exam.

Your testing environment must not have:

  • Noise
  • Clutter
  • Other people
  • Food or drinks
  • Personal items
  • Study materials
  • Electronic devices

If you are unable to secure your testing environment, you may be asked to reschedule your exam when you are in a more suitable location.

How Will the Onboarding Process Work?
  1. To schedule your exam, press the START or Schedule Exam Time button for the exam on your My Courses page. You can reschedule or cancel your appointment for free anytime before your appointment.
  2. The remote proctor will help you use your webcam to take a photo of your face and your valid, government-issued photo ID.
  3. You will complete a brief verification quiz based on publicly available records.
  4. The proctor will secure the testing environment by asking you to do the following:

    1. Use the webcam to show all four walls and corners of the room, the ceiling, floor, desk surface, and area where you are sitting. You will also need a reflective surface, such as a mirror, to show the proctor your computer screen.
    2. Turn out your pockets and remove any accessories that could contain wearable technology. (These may include watches, hats, and large jewelry.) If you have long hair, you will be asked to pull it back to show your ears.
    3. Briefly give the proctor control over your mouse to secure the computer itself.

If you are uncomfortable performing any of these tasks, you are encouraged to use a classroom proctor or testing center for exam proctoring. Please be aware that if you choose to take your exam with a remote proctor, you give up your right to privacy in your testing environment for the duration of the exam.

What Do I Need to Take My Exam?
  • Valid government-issued photo ID
  • Fast internet

    • Download speed .768Mbps or higher
    • Upload speed .384Mbps or higher
  • Up-to-date Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browser
  • A computer with Windows Vista or higher or Mac OS X 10.5 or higher

    • RAM 1024MB or higher
  • A webcam (minimum resolution 640x480)*
  • A microphone*
  • A reflective surface like a small mirror

If you do not have the appropriate equipment, you will not be able to take your test with a remote proctor. Please use this Equipment Test before purchasing a remotely proctored exam.

*You can buy a webcam with a microphone on Amazon for about $10.

What Should I Do During the Exam?

Please keep your eyes on your screen during your exam. You may not use the internet to search for exam answers, and your proctor may not assist you with the exam content. Continue to follow any instructions that your proctor gives you.

Let your proctor know when you have finished your exam. If you have followed all exam policies, your proctor will accept your exam submission. You will then receive an exam score. Please log out of StateFoodSafety before you close the proctor chat window.

Any attempt at cheating on the exam or recording any part of the exam will not be tolerated. In such cases, the examination will be terminated and the examinee may be subjected to legal action.

Why Would My Exam Session Be Shut Down?

When exam security and your convenience are in conflict, exam security takes priority.

The proctor will end your exam if he or she believes that your actions may compromise the integrity of the exam or your testing environment. You will receive a failing score if your exam is shut down. You will also forfeit your examination and proctoring fees.

Examples of when an exam may be shut down:

  • An unauthorized individual enters the testing area.
  • You refuse to follow the proctor’s instructions.
  • You access unpermitted materials or electronic devices.
  • You open unapproved computer applications or internet windows or tabs.
  • You exit the testing area during the exam.
  • Your connection to the proctor is disrupted.

If you believe your exam has been shut down unfairly, you may use StateFoodSafety’s complaints and appeals procedure.
