This course holds the ANSI food handler training program accreditation (ASTM e2659-2015) and is approved for use in Chesapeake, Virginia, by the Chesapeake Health Department and is valid statewide.
The purpose of the Food Handlers Training program is to prepare food handlers to enter the workforce by providing the required food safety information as specified by regulations of the workers’ state or local government.
This program will prepare the learner to become a responsible food handler. A “food handler” is generally understood to be a food worker in a non-managerial role.
By the end of this course you will be able to:
- Identify how to keep the hands, body, and attire clean to protect food and food-contact surfaces from contamination.
- Recognize populations that are highly susceptible to foodborne illness and symptoms and illnesses that must be reported to a manager.
- Identify time and temperature control methods and requirements to prevent bacterial growth in food.
- Identify processes and procedures necessary for maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment.
